The trigger itself now features a flat blade and reduced reach from the rear of the slide – a nice upgrade for shooters who found the grip too big or blocky. That said, the trigger pull is identical to prior models. The optics mounting system is also significantly different. The G17 Gen6 comes with 3 optics plates that allow Trijicon® RMR-footprint optics to be directly into the slide. The new plates act as "crush washers" that allow the optic to sit deeper in the slide for a lower bore axis. In addition to the major improvements, the G17 Gen6 also sports a number of smaller enhancements that shooters have been asking for. The slide serrations are angled deeper into the frame for easier grip, an enlarged slide stop border prevents accidental activation, and a larger beavertail provides a higher hand position. Of course, your older 9mm double-stack magazines will still function in the Gen6, but it should be noted that older barrels are not compatible with the new model.
